This comprehensive video illustrates the process of utilizing DDWRT on the ZBT 6416 and ZBT-AR150, and configuring OpenVPN with a free FinchVPN account.
DDWRT Firmware:
DDWRT firmware can be acquired from the DDWRT website.
For the ZBT 6416, the firmware designed for TP-Link WR710V1 will be used. On the DDWRT website, navigate to Download -> other downloads -> betas, and locate the latest build. Download the file named: factory-to-ddwrt.bin, or obtain it from our website.

OpenVPN:
OpenVPN stands as the most secure VPN protocol. Numerous VPN services offer OpenVPN. FinchVPN, which provides free accounts, will be used as an example. Register on the FinchVPN website. Although their DDWRT guidance is outdated, the necessary instructions for configuring OpenVPN in DDWRT are available.
Install DDWRT:
Installing DDWRT on the ZBT 6416 and ZBT-AR150 is straightforward. Refer to the video demonstrating the Uboot web UI installation process. Setting up DDWRT takes only minutes.
Configure OpenVPN in DDWRT:
The video provides a brief guide for configuring OpenVPN in DDWRT. However, setting up OpenVPN involves numerous parameters. Consult your VPN provider for detailed configuration instructions. FinchVPN is used as an example.
Visit FinchVPN, select a free server, and download the configuration file.
Open the file with a text editor and follow the provided instructions to copy the data into DDWRT. Additional parameters can be configured as illustrated in the accompanying images.
